Bloxburg Universe Explained: Blockbux, Work, How to Build, More

Welcome to Bloxburg is not only one of the most successful Roblox experiences to ever be released, but it is also one of the greatest. With a high level of quality and deep gameplay, the Bloxburg Universe explained guide is here to let you know everything you need to know about this game.

Welcome to Bloxburg is, for many players, the best game in the entire Roblox universe. With the ability to build whatever you want to the chance to work the most fun jobs in any Roblox game, there is a lot to love here. But there are some downsides to it as well. We will cover everything that a beginner needs to know about Bloxburg in this guide.

Bottom Line Up Front

Welcome to Bloxburg, or just Bloxburg for short, is a unique Roblox experience in that it is currently in beta and not free-to-play. It costs 25 Robux or about $1 to play the game, which is different from others. That said, the quality of the experience is more than worth it as you can build your dream home using the most expansive building system in Roblox, hang out with friends, and work the best jobs in Roblox to earn money. There is a reason that Bloxburg is so popular, despite costing money to play.

What Is Welcome to Bloxburg?

Welcome to Bloxburg is one of the many Roblox experiences that are available out there. Where it stands out is that it has found immense success in the last few years, allowing it to rise to the top of the ranks when it comes to the most visited games around.

Bloxburg takes place in the titular fictional city of Bloxburg, which is a small town in an undisclosed country with no specific inspiration for its layout and style. It is an open-world game that is also a sim that focuses on building, roleplaying, and earning cash.

There is a lot of depth to this game, despite having a rather small game world and city. This gets better since it is always expanding and becoming more interesting as time goes on. This is especially true for the building aspects as more items, decorations, and styles are added regularly.

What also helps with Bloxburg is that an all-ages game that is fun for anyone from kids to adults due to the breadth of its gameplay. If you do not like building, you do not have to do just that since there are plenty of social elements in play as well.

Bloxburg History

Welcome to Bloxburg began its life in Roblox in late 2014. This was the same year that many of the greatest Roblox experiences came out. However, at the time, it was not that popular, and it took a couple of years for it to grow.

Developed by the user Coeptus, Bloxburg would not take off until its beta version. The beta began more akin to what we have now, first released in 2016. At that time, it became the first paid title in Roblox history as everything else before it had been free.

It would not only set records with that aspect but also in the actual success of the game. In the last few years, it has reached more than five billion visits to date. The game has reached more than four million votes, too. It has a 90% like rate with an overwhelmingly positive outlook in the community.

At any one time, you can log into Roblox and find tens or even hundreds of thousands of players logged into the game at once. Throughout its life, Coeptus has supported the game better than basically anyone else in Roblox. This includes consistent updates, events, and more to improve the game for everyone. This trend will likely continue as time goes on and the game gets even better.

Entry Cost

Not only is the gameplay and style of Bloxburg unique, but even playing the game for the first time is, too. You see, Bloxburg was the first game in Roblox history to have an entry fee attached to it. This was supposedly due to its “beta” format. Thankfully, there is a possible free release once it is in its 1.0 state, but it is uncertain.

This is because we are more than five years out from the beta release in 2016, and there is no sign of Bloxburg reaching 1.0 anytime soon. So, in the meantime, it is going to continue to have its cost for even playing the game. You are not able to boot up the title without paying its entry price of 25 Robux.

25 Robux is equal to less than $1, but the problem is that you will not be able to purchase just that much currency alone. On most platforms, you will need to buy $1’s worth of Robux currency since there are no smaller increments like only 25 available.

In reality, this usually means that you will have to pay $1 in real-world money to play Bloxburg. This is weird to many Roblox players who first encounter this (including me years ago) since you can spend thousands of hours in other games that cost nothing to play.

In exchange, though, I think that the entry cost is worth it. After all, millions of players seem to agree, given its popularity and likes. Bloxburg is one of the least scummy games in Roblox, with a fairly healthy economy. It helps that it is not in your face about microtransactions like some other games are.

There are optional Robux transactions, sure, outside of the entry fee, but they are not necessary for many players. I would 100% say that the entry fee is worth the cost of admission. There is a lot of great fun to be had in this game with its brilliant but sometimes simple gameplay.

Bloxburg Gameplay Explained

There are three main aspects of the Bloxburg gameplay that makes it one of the most fun Roblox experiences ever. It is a chill experience that is built around simulation, so you will not find intense action here. That said, there is still a lot of enjoyment to be had.

The three core aspects of Bloxburg are building, earning money through jobs, and socializing. These three come together to make the game well worth playing, even if you only like some of it. You can dislike the building side and still love this game, such as in the case of myself.

How to Build

Above all else, the building gameplay of Bloxburg is what this game was created for. It is the main feature in the game as every single player is given a plot of land when they start the game. In addition, they will get a prefabricated starter house to go along with it.

If you like to customize and make your place your own, you can certainly do that to the utmost extent. Bloxburg is constantly adding new items and features that improve the building part. If you can dream of an idea, you are likely able to make something like it in Bloxburg.

There are so many different layers to the building, like having different floors, choosing your custom layout, tweaking the lighting to be just right, building out your rooms how you see fit, and so on. This extends across all aspects of a house, from the inside to the outside.

You can set up pools in your backyard to swim in or put a balcony for you to chill at. The sky is the limit when it comes to building, as you are free to create whatever house you want. Want to own a mansion in the game to show off? Do it. Want to recreate that Barbie dream house playset? You can do that, too.

At the start, you might focus on building out your dream home, but there are so many more options. Since Bloxburg is ripe for roleplaying (more on that in a bit), some will eschew building a house and create a school to play pretend in. Or maybe an entire apartment complex. Some have even made their mini-city inside of the town of Bloxburg.

You literally can build whatever you want in Bloxburg so long as you have the money for it. This extends beyond just the cost to build the house, though. Bloxburg takes its houses seriously, so anything that you buy will have bills associated with it. You will be charged about 0.6% of the overall cost of your house (or whatever you build). This happens every so often as bills, so you’ll need to make sure to have a constant flow of cash.

Blockbux vs. Money vs. Robux

Speaking of money, there are three main currencies that you need to worry about in this game. First and foremost, the easiest to explain is Robux. This is the virtual currency that is available across all of Roblox, and it costs real-world money to gain it.

In the case of Bloxburg, Robux is used solely for purchasing the various Game Passes that are available in the game (more on those down below) and Blockbux. Blockbux is the more premium money that is available in Bloxburg, almost like a Robux-lite type of currency.

You can technically earn Blockbux through daily logins or random gifts from the developer, but the majority of the time, you will need to spend Robux to gain it. Blockbux is great because it allows you to purchase some of the most premium items in the game, from building decorations to even vehicles.

Lastly, there is the regular money or dollars that you can get in the game. This is the most basic form of money and is used for everything from food to buying most building items to paying for your house and more. This is also the money that you will earn from the various jobs that you do.

How to Earn Money

You can gain money by doing jobs in the game as the primary form of making cash in Bloxburg. If you want to fund your extravagant houses or buy a whole bunch of vehicles, you are going to need the cash to do it. As such, you will need to start working jobs in the game.

Fortunately, Bloxburg makes working pretty easy as you can start your job from anywhere. Some players will walk to their job site to begin work, but you do not need to do this. The easiest way is to open up the small menu in the bottom right corner of the screen. From there, select the “work” option.

After that, the game will show you the different jobs that are available in town. You can cycle through them to select the one you want from the list. Once you have found the job that you want, the game will automatically teleport you to that location to begin.

This is also secretly a great way to teleport around town, too, which is useful when you are first starting, and it can take like five minutes to slowly walk from either house neighborhood to the Main Street where most of the businesses are found.

Here is the full list of the jobs that are currently available in Bloxburg:

  • Delivery person (pizza)
  • Pizza baker
  • Stocker (grocery store)
  • Cashier (grocery store)
  • Cashier (Bloxy Burgers)
  • Seller (ice cream parlor)
  • Hairdresser
  • Miner
  • Fisherman
  • Mechanic
  • Janitor
  • Woodcutter

Each job is an interactive one, requiring you to physically do something to complete your work and earn money. For instance, the hairstylist will have you cycle through the various hairstyle and color options for each customer to give them exactly what they want.

As you do your work, each task completion, be it a caught fish as the fisherman or a sale as a cashier, will earn you some money. When you leave your job, you will receive your paycheck for your shift, which will be dependent on how much you worked.

As you work your favorite jobs, it is best to stick to one or two jobs that you prefer, so we recommend trying out all of them and seeing what you like. The more you do a job, the more that you will be promoted, and that will grant you more money. That is why it is best to specialize in certain jobs that will grant you the most money quickly.

What Are the Best Jobs?

Overall, there are a few jobs in Roblox that we think are far superior to the other ones and are most recommended if you do not know where to start. In the end, though, we do suggest just picking the job that is the most fun for you since you will be grinding that work for a long time to earn cash and promotions.

That said, my favorite jobs are pizza delivery person, stocker at the grocery store, the cashier at the grocery store, hairstylist, and ice cream parlor cashier. Some of the jobs are just too annoying to work and not that lucrative in the end, such as the pizza baker. It takes too long sometimes to make a pizza, and it is easy to mess up.

Meanwhile, most of the other jobs are, personally, not that interesting to me. I have heard that mechanic is quite good for paying money if you are at a high enough level, but I have not tried it out too much. In the end, I still think that the delivery person for the pizza place is the overall best job.

For one, it is really fun as you get to ride around on a scooter and then interact with an NPC to hand them their pizza. It is really easy to work since you can keep zooming around the map without ever leaving your scooter if you want to.

Each pizza delivery pays extremely well, too, with the possibility of earning thousands of dollars in just a couple of minutes this way. It does take a long time to get there, but it is great to listen to music or podcasts while you level up your promotion rank for the pizza delivery job.

Social Aspects: Parties, Roommates, Family

The third and final gameplay feature for Bloxburg is the social aspect. Roleplaying is a huge part of Roblox, and Bloxburg is one of the best places to do just that, especially if you like pretending to be family and roommates.

This is because Bloxburg makes it easy to let someone move in with you at your plot of land. You can make someone a roommate that can interact with your house items, like cooking and taking a shower. They can also be even a co-owner who can build your house for you.

That said, we suggest being very careful with giving someone permission to your house. After all, this is how griefers have gotten away with wrong deeds in the past. Roommate is the most limited status that you can give someone if you want them to be able to hang out with you. That status is what you should stick with at first unless you know someone.

Roleplaying comes into play with these statuses as some players will pretend to be a complete family. They will go through their daily routines together as if they are parent and child. They will act like they are going to the grocery store, cooking dinner, going to work, and all that.

At the same time, you are also able to host parties, which will send an invite to the entire server. They can then select to go to the party at your house, and it will automatically take them there. I also like to host parties and events outside of my house, like at the club in town where you can set up music with a Game Pass.

Mood Explained

Your mood is an important part of Bloxburg that plays a huge role when it comes to working and even roleplaying. As you spend time in the town, your status will change, and there are various ones that you can have. Hungry, for example, means that your character has not eaten enough and should get some food.

Your character will get hungry, tired, or stinky as time goes on, requiring you to take care of those issues, or else it will continue to affect your character. Technically, you can keep playing the game while ignoring your status effects, which is something that I do most of the time, but it has its consequences.

For instance, being tired will cause your character to walk extremely slowly, while being stinky might make you earn less money while working your job. In my opinion, though, these consequences are not worth the long treks back to get cleaned up, and back to work, so I usually ignore them. Plus, vehicles eliminate the issue of walking slowly.

If you do want to get rid of your status effects, just base it on what your status says. Should you be tired, for instance, sleeping in a bed or drinking an energy drink will get you back to normal. If you’re stinky, taking a shower or bath will get rid of that. And if you’re hungry, cook some food or head to one of the restaurants, and you’ll be good to go.

Skills

One of the lesser-known and sometimes ignored parts of Bloxburg is the skills. There are various skills that you can learn and upgrade as you play the game that is separate from the jobs. Here are the eight skills that are currently in the game:

  • Athletic
  • Cooking
  • Gaming
  • Gardening
  • Intelligence
  • Music
  • Painting
  • Writing

Some other skills have been hinted at in the past, but they are not yet in the game. Skills do not have a ton of use in the experience, but they will reward you with a trophy if you reach level 10 with any of them. Cooking is a particularly good one, though, since you can make food with it, which would help your hungry status.

Some of them will unlock new stuff as you do them, like being able to play new songs as you upgrade the music stat. Skills are upgraded depending on which one, like cooking food will raise the cooking stat, playing an instrument will raise your music level, and going to the gym will raise your athletic stat.

I wish that stats were more useful in the game, like maybe painting and writing, allowing you to create something that you can sell at a store for money—or even allowing for gaming to let you play unlockable minigames. Maybe athletics could help you to move faster around the map. Some of these stats could even be an interesting alternative to working regular jobs.

Game Passes

While Bloxburg is generally pretty good about its microtransactions, some are available in the form of its Game Passes. There are seven Game Passes in the game at this time, each one costing Robux to own but being a permanent unlocks once you have it.

Here is the full list of the Game Passes in the game at this time:

  • Basements: 100 Robux
  • Advanced Placing: 200 Robux
  • Large Plot: 250
  • Multiple Floors: 300
  • Excellent Employee: 300
  • Stereo: 400
  • Premium: 400

The Basements Game Pass will unlock the option to have a basement floor. This goes underneath the first floor of your house and is not usually available. Advanced Placing is for expert builders, letting you put objects inside of one another and resize certain items.

The Large Plot pass gives you a much bigger plot of land to build upon. This is great for those looking to make the largest dream house possible. Multiple Floors will let you build above the first floor up to five possible floors.

Excellent Employee will be helpful for workers, letting you earn more money from jobs and get promoted faster. The Stereo is great for music since it lets you play whatever songs you want in your vehicles and at the club but is a bit expensive.

Lastly, Premium has a host of features, starting with better daily rewards and the Premium nametag. It also includes the option to select where you put your plot of land and a higher donation limit.

FAQs

Question: What is the point of Bloxburg?

Answer: The point of Bloxburg is really up to the player. That said, you can essentially boil down the gameplay to three core aspects: building, earning money, and hanging out with friends. Almost everything that you can do in the game is centered around these three parts, and that is it.

For building, it is all about making your plot of land the best that it can be. For earning money, it means doing jobs that are quite fun and rewarding. When it comes to hanging out with friends, there are many social aspects to the game. These make it a great experience for friends and family alike.

I’m not a builder really at all, and I still get a ton of enjoyment out of spending time with friends and earning money. The jobs are the best that I’ve seen in Roblox, even better than the job-centric sims out there, and there are great vehicles and other items worth buying as a reward.

Question: Is Bloxburg a real city?

Answer: No, Bloxburg is not a real city, nor does it take inspiration from a city in the real world. It is not a location like in other games like Greenville that is based on a real-world place. This is also pretty clear in the fact that the game’s world is pretty meager at this time, with a small area even after all these years since its release.

Question: How can I play Bloxburg for free?

Answer: Unfortunately, there is no way to get around the entry price for Bloxburg at this time, so there is no way to get in for free. Well, until the end of the beta period, at least, but there is no telling when that will finally happen. No matter what, you will need 25 Robux to play this game.

Now, there is a chance that you could play it for free if someone gives you the Robux for it. For instance, Roblox will very rarely give everyone a handful of Robux due to an issue like a server shutdown and the like. Or you could ask someone like family and friends for Roblox gift cards for your birthday or another special occasion to get into the game.

Question: Who is Coeptus in real life?

Answer: Coeptus is the moniker that the developer of Bloxburg goes by. The real name and identity of the creator of the renowned Roblox experience are not currently known. Many Roblox creators choose to keep their identities a secret, so we may never know who Coeptus is.

Conclusion

Bloxburg is certainly one of the best Roblox experiences of all time. In my opinion, it is objectively the best game that you could find out of all of them. This is because of the unbelievable level of quality, depth, and fun that it has. It is certainly worth the entry fee to play the game and a great game for families and friends to play together.
